The Rising Interview

Where are you right now?

At my desk in my office in Shoreditch.

Where do you go when you need inspiration?

The "garden" - our meeting room with astroturf. I ferkin love astroturf.

Idleness. A gift or curse?

Curse, total curse.

To Bitcoin, or not to Bitcoin?

Don't know. Feels like an MMO currency to me, a games thing, unreal, surreal. It'll go a bit William Gibson on us. It's going to be amazing. I love that it exists.

Liberal Democracy or Democratic Liberalism?

Er. Can't be arsed to look up the difference. Probably the former, but not the current liberals we have, pfff. I'm definitely a leftie.

Carpe Diem or nosce te ipsum (know thyself)?

Carpe Diem. Because what you do today will change you a tiny bit, so you can never keep up with Nosce Te Ipsum, quod erat demonstrandum.

Last app opened?

Toca Mini.

Last book read?

Allegiant, Veronica Roth.

Favourite Album?

No idea.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Don't work beyond 9 to 5. The person didn't mean, be lazy, she meant, work well. Have a life. It's what makes you interesting. (The more I fail at this the less interesting I get).

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever bestowed?

Video everything in the 6 months after having a baby, because you won't remember a thing. The sleep deprivation prevents your laying down memories, so document the lot. Also: when freezing breast milk (HEY, YOU ASKED), morning milk has natural wake-up drugs in it, and evening milk has natural sleepy drugs in it. Label them, otherwise you'll give your baby morning milk at night at some point, and you won't sleep again.

I only found this out 18 months after giving up breast feeding, AWESOME.

If you could be anywhere, where would it be?

The playa at Burning Man, tbh. Or lots of bits of California.

If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?

Bravery. You can hope. It's much more likely to be "big hair".
