Unleashing the Internet of Things: Turning the "Smart City" into reality
The Internet of Everything represents a huge transformation in how the objects we own will interact. Gartner, Inc. forecasts that 6.4 billion connected products will be in use worldwide in 2016, up 30 percent from 2015, and is predicted to reach 20 to 25 billion by 2020. With the Internet of Everything set to interconnect devices, people, environments, virtual objects and machines will this truly have the potential to deliver beyond entertainment and small conveniences?
The mission of The Things Network (TTN) is to build a decentralized open and crowdsourced Internet of Things network, owned and operated by it`s users on a city-by-city basis. The project launched in August 2015 in Amsterdam with TTN communities now starting to cropping up all over the world. Terry presented at Rising Minds NYC on how the TTN project functions, key insights from the Amsterdam project and the potential for this project in New York.
